SIJS ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS SUPPORT

Due to the updated visa bulletin, as of October 1, 2026, many youth with Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJ) will be eligible to file their adjustment of status (green card) applications. Youth may also be eligible to apply for a new work permit.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

If you have approved SIJ status with a priority date earlier than January 1, 2025, you may now be eligible to adjust status.

I’m interested in adjusting status. What are the next steps?

MIRC will host a virtual information session for individuals to understand the risks and benefits to filing for adjustment of status. After that, MIRC will provide workshops to support the completion and filing of these applications. Attending the virtual info session (or watching a recording) is required to participate in the Grand Rapids and Detroit workshops.

Step 2: Adjustment Workshops

Save the date! MIRC will host two in-person workshops on October 27th. Individuals with approved SIJ status can receive assistance completing and submitting adjustment of status applications. Limited spots available. You MUST attend the info session or watch a recording before registering for the workshop. Registration links will be shared at the end of the info session.

SIJS - APOYO CON EL AJUSTE DE ESTATUS

Debido a la actualización del boletín de visas, a partir del 1 de octubre de 2026, muchos jóvenes con el estatus de Joven Inmigrante Especial (SIJ) serán elegibles presentar sus solicitudes de ajuste de estatus (tarjeta verde). Los jóvenes también podrán solicitar un nuevo permiso de trabajo.

¿Cómo sé si soy elegible?

Si tienes un estatus de SIJ aprobado con una fecha de prioridad antes del 1 de enero de 2025, ahora puede que sea elegible para ajustar tu estatus.

Me interesa ajustar mi estatus. ¿Cuáles son los siguientes pasos?

MIRC presentará una sesión informativa virtual para que las personas comprendan los riesgos y beneficios de solicitar un ajuste de estatus. Después, MIRC ofrecerá talleres para ayudar a completar y presentar estas solicitudes. Para participar en los talleres de Grand Rapids y Detroit, es obligatorio participar en la sesión informativa virtual (o ver la grabación).
