Volunteer with the Habeas Project
In collaboration with the ACLU of Michigan, MIRC’s Habeas Hope Operation aims to strengthen statewide capacity for habeas representation of immigrant detainees through coordinated training and collaboration. If you are an attorney interested in volunteering to represent immigrant detainees in habeas petitions, please sign up here!
If you are not an attorney but would like to volunteer your time as an interpreter/translator to assist attorneys representing immigrant detainees in habeas cases, please sign up here!

Support Provided
- Screening all clients for program eligibility prior to placement
- Matching clients with pro bono volunteers based on location and substantive area of law
- Providing training materials and ongoing mentorship on immigration cases
- Offering opportunities for pro bono attorneys to co-counsel matters
- Malpractice Insurance Coverage for attorneys on all pro bono placed cases
