Naturalization and Citizenship

MIRC has a particular interest and focus on promoting naturalization. To learn more about citizenship and naturalization generally, visit our friends at Michigan Legal Help

If you are interested in applying for naturalization, you have come to the right place. MIRC is proud to provide free naturalization assistance as an affiliate with the New Americans Campaign, a national collaborative effort to encourage and assist eligible permanent residents to apply for naturalization. To carry out this work, we assist individual applicants with the process, in addition to partnering with community-, business-, and faith-based organizations to host free community workshops and walk-in clinics throughout Michigan. At the workshops and clinics, attorneys help participants apply for naturalization, for free! We are also available for individual citizenship appointments.

During the pandemic, we are limiting in-office appointments. As such, we are using CitizenshipWorks almost exclusively for viritual naturalization preparation and review. We are available to review your application once you complete 90% or more in CitizenshipWorks.

Please call us at (734) 239-6863 to schedule an appointment or ask questions. We do not have an income limit for naturalization cases.

*MIRC is grateful for the dozens of attorneys, law students, and community volunteers who have contributed their time and expertise at the workshops and clinics. We are always looking for attorneys and non-attorneys to assist with our naturalization efforts. Attorneys, recent law school graduates, accredited representatives, law students, and community members with no legal background are encouraged to participate. Training will be provided.
